Sharing the Journey to One Love

Questing Peace

Written by Sioux Nikoley

When I decided to have peace in my life,
I meant having to give up most contemporary entertainment.
I did not know this.
But what I found is that when distractions from most forms of entertainment vanished,
I could have more moments of quiet solitude.

When I decided to have peace in my life,
It meant having to forfeit moments with friends and family.
I did not know this.
But I found more moments of silence with myself.

When I decided to have more peace in my life,
It meant saying ‘no’ instead of ‘yes’.
I did not know this.
But I found that when I said ‘no’, it gave me the time to listen to my teachings.

When I decided to have peace in my life,
It meant hearing the detailed sounds of nature.
I did not know this.
But what I found was a connective song resonating deep in my soul.

When I decided to have peace in my life,
The gratitude of the miracle of being alive and breathing became apparent.
I did not know this.
But what I feel is joy in just being conscious.

When I decided to have peace in my life,
I stripped myself of the outer shell and went deep within me to what is real.
I did not know this.
But as I spent time in this consciousness, I found peace.
